About the Instructors
After graduating from Minnesota State Mankato where he played catcher and received NCC All Conference honors, Matt played 15 yrs of fastpitch softball. He won the National Championship and Tournament MVP in '95 the same year he was voted an ASA All American and invited to participate in the Olympic Sports Festival. Matt is the former Prior Lake Varsity Head Coach. He is currently the co-owner/operator of the MN Waves where he serves as the development director, hitting instructor and head coach.
After finishing his career at AVHS, Dan Beech went on to play at Minnesota State Mankato from 1989-2001. He also coached the Apple Valley Millers amateur baseball team from 1991-2003. Since 2003, he has been a private hitting instructor for youth ages 8-18 working with individuals and in small group lessons. Dan is the former Prior Lake Varsity Assistant Coach and Player Development Coordinator where he worked alongside Matt Haefner from 2013-2019. He is currently the co-owner/operator of the MN Waves where he serves as the program director, hitting instructor and head coach.
Sara Moulton is a former Strike Zone Sports standout client, a 2014 graduate and 4-year letter winner from the University of Minnesota, where she set records in nearly every pitching category and held top spots on most national leader boards each year. She was a 5th overall pick in the NPF draft by the Bandits in 2014 and spent 3 seasons playing with and against the best fastpitch players in the world. Sara now owns and operates Strike Zone Sports in Eagan teaching pitching lessons to fastpitch players of all ages across Minnesota and surrounding areas.
Originally from Michigan, Coach Nikki was the four-year starting varsity catcher for her high school. She joined a national travel team when she was 15 and competed in over 22 states. Her journey led her to Minnesota, where she was the four-year starting catcher for Macalester College where she graduated with degrees in Neuroscience and Economics. She's been coaching for over 6 years across the country and as far away as South Africa, and founded CNC Fastpitch as a way to train athletes. Many of her players have gone on to play at the collegiate level.
Kelsey Anderson was a standout pitcher for Burnsville High School where she graduated in 2011. She continued her softball career playing two years at Winona State and then transferred to Bethel University where her team won the Conference Championship (2015). She started volunteer coaching in 2009 and has since worked with some of the top club programs in MN. Kelsey has coached Varsity softball for the last 5 years and is currently the Head Varsity Coach at Prior Lake. She is also the owner of Between the Lines Softball, giving lessons in pitching and hitting for the last 5 years.
AnnaMarie was a varsity catcher, beginning in 7th grade, where she earned numerous All-Conference, All-Section, and All-State awards. During her high school career, she was among the top 10 in the state for batting average, pick offs, and stolen bases. AnnaMarie continued her softball career playing four years at Bates College where she set numerous school records. She has been instructing baseball and softball for more than 10 years, and has coached at the club and high school varsity level. AnnaMarie is the current Varsity Head Coach at Delano High School since 2018.
Tony is a former outfielder at South Dakota State University and has approximately 10 years of coaching instruction focused primarily on fastpitch softball. He has worked with kids of all ages in both private and group lesson settings. Tony is focused on getting the most out of your athlete and will help them reach their goals. Tony currently coaches with the MN Waves program and is an instructor at The Cages in Burnsville.
