MN Waves Welcomes AnnaMarie Martino as an Assistant Coach and Off-Season Instructor

AnnaMarie was a six year varsity catcher, beginning in 7th grade, where she earned numerous All-Conference, All-Section, and All-State awards. During her high school career, she was among the top 10 in the state for batting average, pick offs, and stolen bases. After high school, AnnaMarie went on to play four years of Division III college softball at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she set school records in stolen bases, pick offs, and batting average, despite two separate season-ending injuries. She began coaching little league baseball and providing individual catching lessons while still in high school and has been instructing for more than 10 years. AnnaMarie began her high school softball coaching career as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Wayzata High School, under Head Coach Kelsey Anderson. After coaching at Wayzata, AnnaMarie began her role as the Varsity Head Coach at Delano High School in 2018. AnnaMarie has also coached for several years at the club level.

Coach Martino says, “First and foremost, I want to give back to the game that has truly made me the person I am today. I love having the ability to positively impact my players, both on and off the field. I pride myself on not only teaching the game of softball, but also helping to support players in their growth as strong, kind, and respectful individuals.” AnnaMarie’s goals for her players on the field include learning the game of softball and mastering specific skills, in order to forge a strong, cohesive team environment. Off the field, AnnaMarie aims to assist her players in setting priorities, developing strong interpersonal skills, becoming good communicators, and demonstrating respect. She believes that respect is crucial to team success and camaraderie, and she desires to foster a team environment where players feel safe and are not afraid to fail. AnnaMarie expects her players to be constructive, dedicated, and team-players.

Please join us in welcoming her to the MN Waves staff!
