Rachel Malo Joins The MN Waves As A Head Coach For The 2020-2021 Season

Rachel Malo graduated from Owatonna High School in 2013 as a three sport athlete. Coach Malo was the four-year starting varsity shortstop for her high school team. She was named All Area Softball Player of the Year (2013) and earned numerous All Conference and All Section honors. Rachel continued her softball career competing in the MIAC for Gustavus Adolphus: beginning her college career in the outfield, then returning to her home base at the shortstop position. She has been coaching for 4 years at the 12U and 14U levels and has been the Assistant Varsity Softball Coach in Owatonna for 3 years.

Coach Malo says, “I want to invoke in my players a desire to be more than just the fastest, strongest and most skilled on the field. I want them to be STUDENTS of the game. Anticipation, focus, awareness and predictability of the unknown is the game within the game. My athletes will also gain an appreciation for collaboration and teamwork. The life lessons and skills that can be learned from competing are insurmountable. Leadership, integrity and full effort will be at the forefront of our game.” Let’s get better EVERY DAY!

Please join us in welcoming her to the MN Waves program!
